Maintenance of Memorial Ridge site has been ongoing. Two new chairs were placed at the site this year and residents attended for the placement of new plaques. It was reported to be a nice day on the ridge during the visit.
The annual river clean up took place on Saturday July 6th this year and was a success. Many enthusiastic volunteers were present who were grateful that the weather held off. Thank you all who participated.
The annual general meeting took place on Wednesday August 7th at 2pm at French River Lodge. Most signed in using the sign in sheet provided and the final tally was 37 attendees. A draft of the meeting minutes was released to the membership by email on August 19th. The meeting was followed by a social and barbeque. Thank you Pierre Blais who brought his guitar for the entertainment, to French River Lodge staff for graciously hosting and to Clayton for manning the barbeque.
During the month of August, on the 22nd and 23rd, our volunteers worked for two days with junior rangers through the Youth Rangers Stewardship Program. We removed debris from an abandoned dock on Turtle Island, made improvements to the trail to Memorial Ridge by repairing and raising a board walk and phragmites along Hartley Bay Road were removed and bagged. Thank you to both the program volunteers and our membership volunteers for their efforts. Our goals were met, the weather was great and all went as planned.
